The Philippine Nurses Association of Nevada (PNANV) Nursing Scholarship Program

 

The Philippine Nurses Association of Nevada (PNANV) Nursing Scholarship Program was established to support the development of the next generation of nurses in Nevada by providing financial assistance and professional mentorship to promote nursing students who demonstrated academic commitment, leadership potential, and a dedication to community service. This scholarship program is a cornerstone of the PNANV’s mission to foster excellence in areas of Nursing Practice, Leadership and Research through education of its constituents; provide activities that assist in the nurse’s professional growth; and help address the healthcare needs of the community.

AWARD COMPONENTS

$20,000 total ($10,000 per academic year, renewable for one year **).

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
* Must be a Nevada resident (valid NV driver's license/NV state ID). 
* Enrolled in an accredited school of nursing in Nevada and matriculated in a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) program in the state of Nevada, in FULL time status as verified by the school registrar and/ or must have 50% of the total core program to utilize the multi-year disbursement.                                                
* Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale or minimum of B minus.         
* Must be a student member of PNANV and has a commitment & passion for nursing through community service engagement. Membership application is available on the website (www.pnanv.org).

EXCLUSION CRITERIA
* Previous awardees will not be eligible to participate in this scholarship offer.        
* An awardee can only be given one scholarship from PNANV.

REQUIREMENTS
* Unofficial/official transcript of current GPA.                        
* Verification of past (last 2 years) or present college and/or community involvement.     
* Professional Resume/Curriculum Vitae: tailored to highlight healthcare experience, volunteer work and leadership roles.                            
* Two letters of recommendation on official letterhead with wet signature: First letter should come from a current nursing faculty member or clinical instructor; second letter should come from a community leader, supervisor, or professional colleague. Letter should address academic ability, character, professionalism, leadership and service potential.                      
* Financial need information (refer to the application form).      
* Personal Essay (maximum 750 words using APA 7 format, no AI assisted and submitted in Word format). Please address ALL of the following prompts:

How do your personal values align with the mission of the Philippine Nurses Association of Nevada?
How do you plan to use this $20,000 investment in your academic journey, ways to advance health equity and/or serve the community upon graduation?                     
Your academic and personal challenges and how you overcame them.            
Your career goals as a BSN-prepared nurse.                            
Share a personal experience that is meaningful in your nursing journey.       
                     
*Your presence in a short panel interview via zoom.

AWARD EXPECTATION

* After receiving the first series of scholarship award, the awardee is expected to remain an active member of PNANV and serve as a PNANV Ambassador by promoting the organization with its mission and participating in the “Member-Get-a-Member Campaign.”

**To receive the second set of scholarship award of $10,000
the following year, you must maintain your last GPA score or better, in a good
moral standing without disciplinary action and remains active in community
service. Need to submit to the PNANV Scholarship Committee Chairman your next registration enrollment record of the following year, together with your up-to-date GPA score and verification of latest school/community involvements.

DEADLINE
Application form and required document must be submitted online on or before November 15, 2026.

Scholarship awardee will be notified of the decision via email as well as a phone call.
