The Philippine Nurses Association of Nevada Honors Excellence at Annual Nurses Week Gala






LAS VEGAS—The Philippine Nurses Association of Nevada (PNANV) celebrated Nurses Week with its Annual Fundraising Gala on May 10 at The Orleans Hotel and Casino. The event, themed "Resilience Redefined: Nurses Soaring to New Heights," featured the prestigious Tanglaw Awards, recognizing nurses who have made a significant impact in their profession and the community.

Tanglaw, meaning “light to guide one’s path” in Tagalog, celebrates leadership, service, and excellence in nursing. This year’s awards honored outstanding individuals across several categories.


Tanglaw Award Winners

- Academic Impact: Ludy Llasus, PhD, APRN, NP-C, WCSI-CC

- Clinical Practice Impact: Diane Smith, MHA, RN

- Leadership and Administration Impact: Bjorn Bryan V. Ong, RN, BSN, BSM, MBA, and Cathy Dinauer, MSN, RN

- Lifetime Achievement: Sigrid Barrett, PhD, RN, PNP, CNE, FAAN

- Nightingale Legacy Impact: Minda Banaria, BSN, RN

- Scholarship and Research Impact: Andrew Thomas Reyes, PhD, MSN, RN

- Service Impact: Doris Bauer, BSN, RN; and Julie Ann Torremoro, BSN, RN

- Pearl of the Orient: Clark County Credit Union, represented by Craig Fraley

Established to uplift, unify, and advocate for Filipino nurses, PNANV has been a beacon of support in Nevada’s nursing community. Over the years, the organization has fostered professional development, leadership training, and community outreach, ensuring Filipino nurses continue to thrive while contributing meaningfully to healthcare.
